Lesson plan for week 19.3.09 Krav Tech class
Week beginning 16.3.09
Krav Tech Class
Each tech discuss Problem / possible solution / dynamic technique
Show technique from all angles & sides
Warm up
Tech 1
Pre-emptive attacks, long range—discuss their need
Attacker to front
Front kick—Attacker holds shield and is approx 6 ft away, attacker moves towards, defender executes a front kick with a pushing motion.
(Have attacker stand side on to you, as he turns and moves forward this initiates a response from you, this is for front and side only)
Attacker to side
As above but attacker moves towards defender with shield from side, use a step or skip side kick to take out the attacker
Attacker behind
Attacker begins to approach from rear, defender executes back kick (remember lean forward, look to rear, with forearm high to protect), small step towards attacker and hit him with a back kick.
(higher level students work in 3s 2 shield holders and react to 1 moving forward and kick)
Tech 2
Close range threats—Discuss the higher level of danger
Knife to side of throat
Try both 1 & 2 handed control and discuss benefits of both, i.e. single handed control will allow a faster counter with the other hand a 2 handed control will allow a faster use of the weapon against the attacker
(higher level students must vary the type of threat with different grabs and holds during the threat)
Knife to throat from rear
Always 2 handed control until after counter attack has been executed. Grab wrist & hand and pull way from neck, pivot and turn under attackers arm. Counter with kick or other attack.
(higher level students need to put each other under more pressure like pulling defender backwards during the threat)
Dynamic Finish
Teams of 3, Grab focus mitts (2 attackers have 2 focus mitts) defender stands still attackers move around and initiate an attack by hitting the defender with a single hit on the shoulder, the defender responds by attacking the focus mitts with straight punches, Keep the exercise fast paced and attacks frequent.
Cool down & stretch.
